We love winter walks with our little ones, whether it’s a family affair or just me and baby getting out for some fresh air. Even in the middle of winter, the temperature shouldn’t stop you getting out with all of the winter gear now available. Plus, it’s good for the mind, body and soul to get out for a walk – to exercise, take in nature and boost happiness. One of our key pieces this winter has been the 7am Enfant NIDO, which has come in handy for our strolls in the colder weather as well as on car trips and running errands around town. The NIDO is a car seat cover, primarily, but can also be used with your infant carrier whilst on a stroller and as a stroller footmuff once your child is using an upright pushchair seat, up to around 18 months of age, with the larger size.
When it comes to car seat safety, we think parents need to be informed of up-to-date safety features and dangers and there are some key points to ensuring your little one stays safe whilst travelling. Extra fabric behind baby’s back is very dangerous when they’re sat in their car seat as the safety harness needs to be kept tight in case of a collision. A puffy coat or snowsuit can add around 4 inches of slack between your little one and the harness straps and therefore even if the safety harness seems tight, in the event of a collision, the material will compress, and the child can be ejected from seat.
Parents need to be aware of the dangers of using bulky coats with car seats but they also need a solution to this problem when they need to keep their little one warm in the depths of winter. As a result of this issue the 7am Enfant NIDO was born; The Car Seat Lady is an American organisation promoting car seat safety who worked in conjunction with 7am Enfant on the design of the NIDO. We think that more parents needs to be aware of this type of cover which can keep baby snug and safe in the car.
To avoid the issue of too many layers, the 7am Enfant NIDO has an oval cutout in the back which allows baby to be secured in the car seat without any material between your little one and the straps. The NIDO then wraps around baby to keep them warm and fastens easily with Velcro to keep baby snug. We love the fact that our little one can keep wrapped up and toasty in the colder weather though baby’s back will be flush against the car seat and the NIDO doesn’t compromise or interfere with the car seat straps thanks to the stretchy oval cutout.
With an elasticated hood, the NIDO fits snugly around baby’s head to keep in heat and there are separate leg muffs to keep baby warm whilst being roomy enough to allow for space to grow. Plus if the temperature in the car warms up its super simple to undo the NIDO with the tri-fold design to keep baby at the optimum temperature.
The 7am Enfant NIDO is available in two sizes; Small (0-6 months) and Large (6-18 months) which means there is something to use right from newborn.
As well as being the perfect car seat cover for safety reasons, we love using our NIDO when out for a winter walk with our infant carrier on the stroller as the NIDO has an anti-pilling micro-fleece which is soft and comfortable against baby’s skin and the ultra-soft premium poly insulation keeps in the heat. Fantastically, the lightweight outer shell is water repellent which is great in the event of a sudden rain or snow shower!
The 7am Enfant NIDO has been one of our go-to items this winter as it provides safety, warmth and comfort, in the car or on the stroller. The 7am Enfant products have a premium look and feel and offer durability with style which means that not only does the NIDO offer protection and safety for our little one but it looks great. We couldn’t resist the neutral beige colour which goes with everything! Not only is the 7am Enfant NIDO one of our stand out prices, we think that the price point offers great value considering the versatility and practicality that the NIDO offers.
