Following on from the success of the Britax Advansafix II SICT Car Seat, Britax have now released the *NEW* Britax Advansafix III SICT Car Seat. It is a Group 1-2-3 Car Seat suitable for children 9kg – 36kg which is approximately 9 months to 12 years. The Advansafix II SICT Car Seat seamlessly transitions from 5 point harness to being used as a high back booster. It is easily installed via ISOfix points alongside a top tether and grows with your child.
The seat is forward facing and packed full of innovative safety features. The padded cover and side wings make journeys very comfortable for your child. Car snacks are no problem as the cover can be removed and washed to keep the seat looking fresh. It has a height adjustable headrest and 3-position recline for all ages, maintaining comfort and enjoyment of travelling.
The 5-point harness keeps your child safe and protects them from all directions of impact. This can be used for children up to 18kg. From 18kg to 36kg your child would then be secured by the car’s 3-point seat belt. Britax has also added their unique SecureGuard feature which provides a 4th contact point to keep the lap belt in the correct position.
The Britax Advansafix III SICT Car Seat comes in an array of great colours to suit every child. It is seen here in Ocean Blue- which we love!
The car seat also has SICT technology which provides Side Impact Protection. This applies to the parts of the car seat that cradle your child’s head it will absorb the impact of side and rear crashes. It also distributes the force of the crash away from your child’s body.
The performance chest pads keep the harness comfortable and reduce the child’s movement and energy in the event of an impact.
The Britax Advansafix III SICT Car Seat can take a child from approx 9 months until 12 years – (9kg -36kg). This makes it a really good investment in terms of its length of use. The only change during that time will be how the child is fastened in – from 5-point harness up to 18kg and car seat belt with SecureGuard for the rest of the time.
The V-Tether double anchorage offers greater stability and security for your child than seats with conventional top tethers. There is a ‘Pivot-Link’ system too which reduces the child’s forward movement. Green installation indicators on both the ISOfix points and top tether will leave anyone fitting the car seat assured that it has been done correctly.
The physical car seat is installed into your car the same way for all ages, but the way the child is fastened into the car seat changes. Once your child outgrows the harness (approximately 18kg) the harness can be removed and replaced by the use of a normal 3-point seat belt around the child whilst still in the seat unit.
To start you must release the ISOfix points from the case that protect them and get the tether strap out of the bag behind the seat. The white plastic case needs to be fully removed for installation but provides good protection while it’s in storage.
Then choose weight group and follow instructions
Before you start you need to make sure that the headrest and harness are at the height of your child’s shoulders. This cannot be changed whilst the seat is installed so do make sure it is correct before installing.
Place the seat belt through the back of the seat, but do not yet plug it in. Ensure there are no twists in the seat belt. Next click the ISOfix points into place. They will turn green when correctly installed and allow for peace of mind for any parent or person installing the seat.
Next comes the top tether, this may sound daunting but more and more car seats are set to start having this great safety feature. Putting it around the headrest and clicking it into the tether strap point allows for this part to almost be finished. You will need to tighten the strap until the indicator on the strap turns green – that’s when you know it is securely fitted. Next the seat belt needs to be clicked into its hold then tightened and placed through the red guidance holes. Click this down tightly and securely and your car seat should be ready to go.
The harness is easy to tighten and undo with a simple pull or pushing in of a button. Located in the middle of the seat at the front, this is extremely easy to do. Once the seat is fitted, you’ll just need to fasten the harness each time the seats in use. The seat will stay fitted for as long as your child is the right size in it or needs the harness height/headrest height adjusting.
To install for an older/ taller child the ISOfix points and top tether need to be installed in the same way (please see above). First the harness needs to be removed and then the ISOfix points and top tether can be clicked into place and securely fitted (both until then indicate green). The seat belt is then used to go around the child inside the seat, red guidance points will make sure that this is in the correct position, and then the seat belt can be fitted as normal. You also use the SecureGuard as a 4th contact point. The headrest can be extended from the back of the seat once installed in this way and this must be to the height of the child’s shoulder.
Seat belt guides will also leave the vehicles 3-point seat belt installed in the correct position. We love the fact that any parent will know where to place the seat belt. It makes it really easy when someone else is using it e.g. grandparents as the clearly marked areas will show them where to place the belt.
