When it comes to double strollers, we couldn’t wait to take the Cosatto Supa Dupa for a spin! This stroller is suitable straight from birth and whether you’ve got twins on the way or you’re looking for a stroller capable of handling an older child and a newborn – the Cosatto Supa Dupa is a great option.
We think the Cosatto Supa Dupa is the ideal stroller for urban living and we LOVE the on trend styles and patterns available. On top of all the core features the stroller offers, Cosatto products include just about everything extra from a footmuff to a speaker in the hood – meaning no time needed to shop around for added accessories!
As we would expect from Cosatto, the material of the seat on the Supa Dupa is very soft to the touch and made from a plush fabric. All of the prints available are bright and colourful and there’s something for every family – we chose the ‘Sis and Bro’ style to try out for our boy/girl combo. This is a great design which has a different pattern for each half of the stroller – anchors for bro and ribbons for sis.
The leg rest is easily adjustable and is great to accommodate little legs that want to be up and longer legs that need a little more room and want to rest.
All of the added extras that come with a Cosatto stroller make it great value. It includes two cosy toes, each with a kangaroo pouch and reversible zip-off fleece liner, perfect for keeping cosy even in winter and matching the style of the main frame.
We absolutely love the fact that each part co-ordinates, right down to the plastic circles on the handles!
In terms of suitability, the Cosatto Supa Dupa can be used from birth and the seats can both be reclined, independently of one another to achieve a newborn lie-back position. We think this is fab as it means if you’re using with a newborn and a toddler you can meet both of their needs – it’s an easy one handed manoeuvre to recline the seat and there are 4 possible positions, so each child can snooze as they please. The independent seats give each child their own space whilst out on the go and we found that there were far less squabbles than we anticipated.
The seats feature a 5-point safety harness with chest pads on the straps for extra comfort and an integrated head hugger to keep your little one snug and well fitted when strolling around.
Included in the package is an attachable sun canopy which is easily slotted over the handles and clipped onto the side of the frames. Whilst this is all one piece of material, making for easy installation, each seat unit has its own sun extendable UPF50+ sun canopy. We like the fact that each child can choose how they want their canopy – no quarrelling about it being up or down! The canopies feel sturdy when adjusting them and easily click between positions to provide full coverage of the little ones inside – once again the canopy is a great co-ordinated printed pattern.
At the back of the sun canopy there is a multimedia gadget storage pocket which has a magnetic closure to ensure that no one wakes the baby!
Under seat storage comes in the form of an individual basket underneath each seat, which is made from a mesh material to allow air to pass through. Whilst we were sceptical about the size and durability of this at first it turned out to be more than large enough for two lots of baby essentials as well as any extra bits and bobs when you’re out shopping. The mesh help up far better than we thought it would and this seems like a sensible option to fit in with the lightweight nature of the stroller.
The Cosatto Supa Dupa is smooth across urban terrain and it’s comfortable to push. There are three handles across the top so pushing the stroller is a dream (and a little one can even help without steering it off in the wrong direction). The handles are covered in foam making them comfortable to hold for long periods of time and there are two possible handle heights – ideal for the taller and smaller amongst us.
All three front wheels are lockable swivel wheels which makes longer walks and slightly rougher terrain much more feasible. We love the fact that the Supa Dupa can handle slightly rougher terrain than most urban strollers and the wheels are solid rather than air-filled so if punctures worry you, you’ll never get left stranded (a bonus in our books!).
Plus to put on the brakes there is one located above each wheel, click down using your foot on one and they will all lock.
We found the Supa Dupa was sturdy and comfortable, making journeys out easy for a busy urban family – it even fits through a standard doorway to make life that bit easier with double trouble! It’s clear that Cosatto do not skimp when it comes to safety and design and you can really tell that with the Supa Dupa – the buggy is strong and sturdy, yet light to push even with two children inside.
Like many lightweight city strollers, the Supa Dupa has an umbrella fold and can be folded in three easy steps;
Simply kick up the foot plate at the rear of each seat, which will have now ‘unlocked’ the back frame in a sense. You will feel that the frame is no longer as rigid and has some movement in it.
Next you need to push down (using your foot is fine) on the lever located on the right side of the frame and finally push together until the auto-lock clicks into place. It’s that simple.
To unfold you just need to reverse this, undo the auto-locks on each side, open up and push back down the foot plates behind each seat. It’s an easy fold that anyone should take to easily, plus as an umbrella fold it goes down to a great compact size. You can fold it with or without the footmuffs on board and the auto-lock will still come into action.
For parents wanting a double stroller that folds super small, the Supa Dupa is a great problem solver. Plus it also has a standing fold which makes it great for storing in small cupboards and under the stairs. The lightweight aluminium frame also features a carry handle which comes in handy when on the go.
Putting this stroller up and down was intuitive and instructions shouldn’t be required for anyone with some buggy experience. The mechanics are very similar to other umbrella fold buggies but fantastically this came assembled straight out the box – we didn’t even have to pop the wheels on ourselves!
The Supa Dupa includes two cosy toes as standard and depending on which colour scheme you choose will alter whether or not they have the same colour pattern on not. These cosy toes are fully reversible with an alternate colour/pattern on the inside. The fronts can also be zipped off to create a seat liner and there is either a fluffy side for a lighter option – more appropriate for the summer. There are also kangaroo hand pouches in which your little one can pop their hands on those cold winter walks.
Also included; a raincover for those damp days, a cup holder and two soft insulated bottle holders which match the stroller.
This is a roomy pocket to pop in any essentials you need close to hand. Plus, inside this pocket there is a speaker with a standard headphone jack to slot into just about any phone or media device. We love this feature as we have yet to come across it with any other brand and the fact that this is all included in the price is what makes the Cosatto packages so unique.
In the top of the sun canopy on the inside there is also a ‘Window-on-the-World’ hood – this is essentially a display pocket for you to use to entertain your children. Whether it be flash cards, photos, pictures of films (the hood is large enough for a tablet) this is a great way to provide stimulation, so that when the seat is reclined your children can learn things on the go. In the back of the sun canopy there is also a peek-a-boo window on either side, letting you keep an eye on your little ones!
