If you’ve been brave enough in the past to travel with small children, then you have probably at one point or another shared the pain for flying with them. It’s never easy travelling with kids and a cumbersome buggy. Where do you store it on the train? Thank goodness for the Mountain Buggy Nano.

On opening the box we couldn’t believe how small it was. Coming in its own travel bag it really didn’t look like there was a buggy inside.

At 5.9kg the Mountain Buggy Nano is a lightweight compact travel stroller suitable from 6 months up until they are about 20kg (4 years old). Similar in weight to the traditional umbrella strollers such as those from the pioneer Maclaren, this is actually a travel stroller that is sturdy enough to be a proper functioning buggy.   The other benefit it has built in adaptors to attach a car seat such as the Maxi-Cosi Pebble (from £139) or Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix (from £99.99) thereby becoming the lightest travel system on the market.

Folding

It folds into a weeny size. You press 2 buttons in 2 steps. It is an extremely compact fold and is self-standing. It comes with its own carry strap and it’s own travel bag if you want to protect it, which is a great added bonus as most brands make you purchase the travel bag separately. It can fit into overhead lockers on trains and planes so is perfect for parents with very little storage space left after having children! To unfold it, you only need one hand. This nifty little bundle is great for anything from flying to wanting to claim back your boot space.

Seat

The seat is a good size. Measuring 33.5 cm wide and with a 45.5cm back height.  It has 2 recline positions and can seat a child with maximum weight of 20kg. That is the equivalent of a 4 year old, perfect for holidays when you want to have a late dinner and your 4 year old wants to snooze. It has a good sized basket and a hood that has an extendable visor to keep the sun off your little traveller.

Handling

It has 4 x 6” EVA wheels.  The front ones are lockable and able to swivel, so locking them for longer walks makes the journey a lot smoother. It has rear suspension and it was easy to push and manoeuver. It has an easy brake system with a one step pedal located at the rear. It’s colour coded so is easy to tell whether you have it on or off, and it’s also great because for people that don’t usually push the buggy can’t get mixed up!

Flying

Although it’s not IATA regulation approved to be taken as hand-luggage on an airplane, a lot of airlines do accept it. However, it is best to check with the airline before you fly.

Accessories

A perfect accompaniment to the Nano is the Mountain Buggy Nano All Weather Cover Set (from £28.95) – this includes a sun mesh and a raincover. It’s perfect for any weather type as you can easily swap and change between the two. A Freerider (from £62.95) is great for taking another child with you. But don’t forget the Connector 2 (from £16.50) otherwise it won’t be able to attach to the buggy. It’s perfect for toddlers to hop on to if their legs get tired.

For colder weather, a Mountain Buggy Sleeping Bag (from £59) literally acts like a sleeping bag! We love it and our children do to, it’s even washable so there won’t be any grubby marks in sight. Or if it’s a seat liner that your child would prefer we love the Lambswool and Micro-Suede Liner (from £67.50). It’s made from super soft material and made the seat ever so comfy.

For a general Liner, the Mountain Buggy Cosmopolitan & Nano Seat Liner (from £19.99) provides extra comfort and colour for your little one inside/
